Watchtower Library 2016 Linux Install
We are currently using a Linux laptops, running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus). This process also works on the current Debian 9 (Stretch). For both of them the installation is about the same.
#1. Install Wine 1.7 or better. Which ever version of wine that you decide to use, make sure it is a “stable” version and not a development or beta version. In Ubuntu use Applications > Ubuntu Software Center. In Debian, click System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager.
#2. Open your Documents folder and create a new folder named WT2016. Copy the contents of the Watchtower Library 2016 to the WT2016 folder.
#3. Next we will need to change the permissions on the executable files in the WT2016 folder. Simply open the folder, and for each file that ends in .exe, do a right mouse click, click Properties > Permissions, and fill the check box that say “Allow execution file as a program”.
#4. You are now ready to install Watchtower Library 2016. Simply right-click startup.exe, choose "Open With Wine Windows Program Loader", and follow the prompts.
#5. You might be presented with two Watchtower Library 2016 shortcuts on your desktop. Keep the one that looks pretty and delete the other one. Now Double Click the remaining Watchtower Library 2016 shortcut to start Watchtower Library 2016.
On some systems, you might see lines instead of text. No worries here, all you need to do is install a True Type font, and you are in business.
#1. Go to Applications > Internet > terminal
#2. Ubuntu: Type the following: sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer, then enter admin password
Debian: Type the following: su, enter admin password, apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer
#3. Restart Watchtower Library and everything should work just fine.
Note: If you cannot see the text or if the text looks like 00000000 00000, simply choose a new font in Library > Properties
