The easiest way to connect to a network share is to:

click on the home folder
click Browse Network
click on the desired workgroup

click on the desired share.

Once connected, will the connection will remain in the list under "Networks". However, sometimes the listing goes away for some unexplained reason, meaning that you have to repeat the process to access your network share.

Sometimes, howevever, more information is required to access a network share, such as User Name, Password, Domain name, or when DNS does not recognise the host name and you must use the ip address of the server. In this case, open the home folder, then click Connect To Server.

When trying to create a desktop link to access the network share, you might receive an error that says: "Error While Creating Link To: "Your Folder Name". "The Target Doesn't Support Symbolic Links"

If you get this error, use the following:

• use "Connect to Server" to connect to the location and subfolder you want
• copy the text in the location field (ie. sftp://username@yourserver.com/home/user )
• Right-click on the desktop and select "Create Launcher"
• Change "Type:" dropdown to select "Location"
• Enter a name for the shortcut in the "Name:" field
• Paste the path you copied earlier into the "Location:" field
• Click OK
• Move the Launcher file anywhere you want it
